Hi and thank you for taking time to read my page. I am participating in two challenging marathons within a week of each other. With determination, I run to raise awareness for Bowel cancer research under Bowel Research U.K.

The challenge of conquering back-to-back marathons may seem difficult, but I refuse to give up. This cause is what is motivating me to keep going. The Manchester Marathon is the second largest in the UK and the fourth largest in Europe, while the London Marathon is one of the six major marathons worldwide.

To understand my dedication, let me share my journey. On January 24th, 2023, I decided to stop drinking and realised the negative impact it had on me. At the beginning of April, I discovered a new passion for running. Fueled by my drive, I participated in my first race in July. The fire within me grew, pushing me to conquer new challenges and earn medals as proof of my accomplishments. With an upcoming half marathon in October, I can confidently say running has become a crucial part of my life now. I have now completed said marathon in a respectable time of 1h43m and so begins the 21 weeks worth of marathon training and prep. Dark mostly cold early mornings through the autumn winter months.

Bowel cancer, a cruel and relentless disease, has left a devastating mark on my family. Tragically, within a span of eight months, we lost my Uncle and my father to this horrible disease, and mourned the passing of their cousin to the same affliction: Bowel Cancer. Such heartbreak serves as a daily reminder of the urgency to combat this formidable foe.

Considering my limited experience in running, taking on the challenge of two marathons is not just a personal milestone, but a commitment to raise awareness and funds for Bowel Cancer research. Running in memory of my late father and other family members is incredibly significant. I humbly ask for your support in any form possible to join me in battling this devastating cancer. Together, no contribution is too small, and we can make a difference. Help me bring hope and healing to those affected by this relentless disease.
