This summer an intrepid group of 15 riders take part in The European Wanderers’ ‘Road to Ventoux’ charity bike ride, a 400-mile, five-day bike ride from Perpignan to Marseille with the aim of raising a combined minimum total of £10,000 for 3 different charities. Our chosen charities are: Mind, Bowel and Cancer Research and the Alzheimers Society.

Starting from Perpignan on the Mediterranean the route takes us through some of the most amazing countryside, including the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The fourth day of the ride takes us to the Beast of Provence, Mont Ventoux. Most riders will climb it one way via the Gorges de la Nesque, whilst a few “mad men” will climb Ventoux, three times in one day!!!

This year's Charity ride was due to take place in 2020 but was delayed for obvious reasons until this year. It starts from where we left off in 2018 when we crossed the Pyrenees mountains in our epic Coast to Coast charity bike ride from Biarritz to Perpignan.

This year will be an even bigger challenge for me as I had hip surgery in January 2022 and was only just off crutches in February - cycling this distance may be a wee bit out of reach but I am training hard and hope to be able to complete the distance.
