Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
On Sunday 19th April I will be running the Brighton Marathon to raise money for Bowel and Cancer Research. Their mission is that one day no one will die from bowel cancer or have to live with a chronic bowel disease.
Bowel cancer is the 4th most common cancer in the UK. It's symptoms are often subtle or can be missed entirely until it reaches a more advanced stage. Treatment can then become much more difficult and the survival rate decreases significantly.
My Dad, Leo, was 58 when he was diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel Cancer in the summer of 2013. He had been complaining of abdominal pain and sickness, which was initially put down to a stomach bug. By the time he was diagnosed, sadly no treatment was available for him as the cancer had become too advanced.
We lost him 19 days after his diagnosis on the 17th August 2013. Fortunately, he was able to come home and passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Adjusting to life without him has been and continues to be incredibly difficult for all of us who knew and loved him so much. I would like to do my bit to try and stop other individuals and families experiencing what we have and to raise awareness.
So please support me on my journey! I am training hard and will be wearing my vest with pride.
Thank you xxx
